Meet the Cabossés
Each Cabossé is a vessel in name only. These sculptural forms are built from low-fire stoneware and fired multiple times—three at a minimum—until their surfaces reach the desired tension between rawness and intention. The finishes, which I call crusts, are entirely my own formulations—unrepeatable, tactile, and exclusive to my studio practice. Some pieces are inscribed with geometric compositions—studies in visual weight, rhythm, and directional flow. These markings aren’t decorative in the usual sense; they’re conversations between form and surface, presence and absence. Sizes range from intimate (7.5 inches high) to quite commanding (up to 2 feet—the upper limit of my kiln’s generosity). Each work is one-of-a-kind and made with the quiet insistence that sculpture, like people, doesn’t need to be functional to be worth your attention.
You can also find other Cabossés at The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo, Ontario.
Shipping
Due to the individuality—and let’s be honest, the occasional fragility—of these works, shipping fees are calculated case by case. I take great care in packaging, treating each piece as if it were heading to a museum (which, frankly, it should be). Once you’ve purchased a piece, I’ll be in touch with an accurate shipping quote.
If you have questions, curiosities, or just want to make sure you're not buying a soup bowl in disguise, feel free to reach out. I’d love to hear from you.
